Log in to your Mobimag account

If you're using Adobe Illustrator to design your Mobimag, you'll need to follow additional steps when adding links to your pages.

Unlike InDesign, you can't directly create a hyperlink in Illustrator. But you can get around this by bringing your PDF files into Acrobat after you've saved them from Illustrator.

Once you're done creating your pages in Illustrator, save them as a PDF file
Open your PDF file with Adobe Acrobat
At the right-hand sidebar, click the Edit PDF button
In the top bar that has popped up, click 'Link' and then select 'Auto-Create Web Links from URLs…'

If you have a button, image or other graphic elements on your page, follow the steps below on how to add hyperlinks inside Acrobat.

Click 'Link' and select 'Add/Edit Web or Document Link…'
Select the button or image and set the link action to 'Open a webpage'
Click 'Next' and enter in your website URL
Hit 'Okay' to save your changes

Once you're done adding hyperlinks to your Mobimag pages, you should double-check your links. This step is important to make sure that your links redirect to the right page.

How to Resolve Issues with Clickable Links in InDesign

Hyperlinks, also known as clickable links, are elements in digital documents, such as web pages or emails, that allow users to navigate to another location with a single click or tap.

In rare cases, certain links may not become clickable when placed inside Mobimag. If you encounter this issue, there are several steps you can take to resolve it.

Open the file in Acrobat and export it in an earlier version of PDF: If your clickable links are not functioning as expected, try opening the InDesign file in Adobe Acrobat and exporting it in an earlier PDF version. This process can sometimes resolve any compatibility issues and restore the clickability of the links.
Open the file in Preview and re-export: Another solution is to open the InDesign file in a PDF viewer like Preview (on macOS) and then re-export it. This method can help address any formatting or rendering issues that may be affecting the functionality of the links.
Export the file from InDesign for an older PDF target version: InDesign allows you to specify the target PDF version when exporting a document. If your clickable links are not working, try exporting the file for an older PDF target version. This action can sometimes mitigate any incompatibilities that may be hindering the link functionality.
Recreate the links in Acrobat: If the previous steps do not resolve the issue, you can recreate the links directly in Adobe Acrobat. Open the PDF file in Acrobat and use its tools to add the necessary hyperlin

How to Brief a Graphic Designer

If you're planning on hiring a graphic designer to create your Mobimag, make sure that you give them a clear and detailed design brief.

Here are some tips on what you should include in your design brief to get the results you want.

Ask your designer to design each page to be 400 pixels wide by however long your page needs to be.

For ease, we suggest they design every section or article as a separate page. This way, after uploading to Mobimag, you can re-order your pages yourself.

For articles, we recommend designers stick to single column layout and add graphic elements every few swipes down to break up the text.

For covers, we again recommend a width of 400 pixels, with a height of 715 pixels. We also recommend a fade to black at the bottom of your cover page.

Once the design is complete, ensure that the text has NOT been converted to outline. Export each page as a separate page at 150 DPI resolution.

Following these steps should ensure that all pages are less than 10MB, which is our maximum file size for pages. If the files are still larger than 10MB, please instruct your designer to compress the PDF further.
